Google has made several enhancements to see off Microsoft’s alternative search engine “Bing”. A Google software engineer revealed in a blog some of the improvements which included the following:-

• Google now places images next to maps and links when searching for locations in Google Search

• Users can now filter advanced image searches by Creative Commons license, a useful tool for users editing their blogs who want to make sure they use non-copyrighted works

• The Product Search tool for mobile devices has been extended to all devices with an internet connection in the US, UK, Germany and South Korea

Bing is gaining in popularity. Although Google still has 81% of the market, Bing is gaining on 2nd place Yahoo with a 5.3% share.
