Bing & Google Become ‘Social’

The social networking phenomenon Twitter has recently announced a series of partnerships with global search engine giants Microsoft & Google. Twitter has signed deals to put messages ( “tweets” ) sent via the social microblogging service into both Microsoft’s and Google’s search engines.

The deal will see tweets show up in Google and Bing search results almost immediately after they are posted on Twitter.

Google released a statement commenting on this deal stating and that their Twitter integration package would debut on their search service within the coming months, whereas Microsoft has moved towards integrating Twitter more quickly and has set up a stand alone Twitter search page accessible via the Bing search engine.

In related news, Microsoft also appears to have swept in before Google and clinched a deal with Facebook, incorporating real time updates from the social networking site in Bing’s search results. This news is not entirely unexpected, but we imagine Google are going to be watching extremely carefully to see how popular the move proves to be with users and how effective it is.

The inclusion of Twitter & Facebook updates are sure to change the world of internet search in future, but it is yet to be seen how internet users will react to user generated content within their searches.
